In Monday's trading, equity markets demonstrated resilience, recovering from initial losses and subsequently recording moderate gains.

This was an important week for the Markets with a number of key Econ Data being published just as we start the Q2 earning season led by the major banks.

Citi's Second Quarter 2023 Earnings Review Summary:

S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite have closed near their daily highs.

Wednesday we saw a positive response to June's CPI data, propelling the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite and closing with respectable gains.

On Tuesday, market indices demonstrated a moderate uptrend. Anticipations that the forthcoming U.S. inflation data might indicate a sustained relaxation in price pressures propelled equities higher.

The majority of U.S. Sectors closed with gains and the main European averages ended the day positive.

The market is currently in a bullish phase, despite some traders having initially been caught offside.

A small range bearish candle this week for the SP500. On the daily chart we can see that price had a pullback after a fake break out of the Friday 16th of June high.

A short but strange week where the alignment of the 4th July holiday together with the publication of the FOMC minutes and the NFP data had made this the only week outside of Xmas/NYE where we could have simply taken the whole week off and not think of trading.

Our long weekend from the last one will now merge into this coming one. However, next week will be a busy period.

US major averages closed in the red as did the European main averages.

Monday's trading session was a half day as today is July 4th with equity and bonds closed but forex is open.

The trading week will likely be disrupted due to the July 4th holiday and the release of non-farm payroll data. We should take a break and potentially leverage this as an extended holiday period.

Powell's hawkish comments last week stalled a U.S. stock rally that had pushed the S&P 500 and Nasdaq to an over one-year high and the Dow to a six-month peak.

A BuRPI candle this week printed by the SP500 with a 2.21% gain. Dropping down to the daily chart all looks good for the bulls as the PB the week before seems to have just be a bullish flag (so far).

Tuesday is July 4th, so it will be a holiday. This may actually turn out to be a long weekend and some traders will be on holiday on Monday.
